OpensDNS is a service that blocks bad sites and filters sites based on categories or user defined lists.
Basic understanding what DNS is and how OpenDNS does it better. DNS is basically a phone book. Let’s say you want to go to goolgle.com you computer needs to lookup google.com and find its ip-address so you can go there. You internet company and has this already setup for you so you type in google.com and your computer guess there.
What OpneDNS does is it changes the phone book so you do not go to a gambling site or worse a XXX site by accident, or any other site you want to block.
The setup can be a little tricky. There are a few things you have to change on your firewall/router make OpenDNS work after you create an account. There some great tutorials at http://www.opendns.com/support/ to help with setup. If you need help please contact us and we will be happy to assist.
